Enjoy a pleasant summer evening at the Open Air Architectural Museum.
“Downtown Summer Evening” is an event with extended opening hours, offering visitors a chance to experience the charm of summer evenings.
In the East Zone’s Shitamachi-naka Street, the illuminated restored commercial buildings and lanterns evoke a festive summer atmosphere.
In the West Zone, you can spend time in the traditional Japanese houses and enjoy the cool evening breeze.

Children’s Portable Shrine
Location: Shitamachi-naka Street
Time: About 30 min. from 6:00 PM
Carriers of the portable shrine will be recruited on the day of the event. Children will parade with a vibrant energy that matches the festival mood. Heave-ho!

Awa Dance at the Open Air Architectural Museum
Location: Entrance Square ~ Yamanote Street
Times: ① From 5:00 PM ② From 5:30 PM, ③ From 6:30 PM (each performance is around 15 min.) *On August 2 (Sat), only ② and ③
Performed by: Koganei Awaodori Promotion Association
Local dancers will perform the Awa Dance at the Open Air Architectural Museum.

Demonstration and Sale of Traditional Crafts

There will be a demonstration and sale of the traditional Tokyo crafts of Tsuri-shinobu (hanging ferns), Edo glassware, and Edo fans.

Opening of Stores in Reconstructed Buildings
Locations: “Kodera” Soy Sauce Shop, Stationery store “Takei Sanshodo”, “Hanaichi” Flower Shop
Time: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Three stores on Shitamachi-naka Street will open specially for two days only. Available items are drinks (“Kodera” Soy Sauce Shop), old school stationeries (Stationery store “Takei Sanshodo”), and cut flowers (“Hanaichi” Flower Shop).
