Announcement of reopening of Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum will adhere to relevant guidelines and take necessary measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. We ask for your understanding regarding inconveniences during this time.

Cancelled museum-organized events: 
•Viewing inside the reconstructed buildings, Museum Talk, Volunteer activities (fumigation and guiding)

Facilities that will be closed
•Multipurpose hall in the Visitor Center

Services that are suspended until further notice:
•Workshops organized by the museum
•Discounts such as Silver Day and Family Day that attract crowds

Requests to visitors:
•Please refrain from visiting the museum if you have a fever above 37.5°C (99.5°F) or symptoms such as coughing, or sore throat.
•Please refrain from visiting the museum if you have traveled within the past two weeks to countries or regions where infections are continuing to increase.
•Please practice good etiquette by wearing a mask, avoiding coughing near others, and washing and disinfecting your hands. Visitors who do not wear masks will kindly be refused entry. 
•Temperatures will be taken at the entrance to the museum. Visitors who are found to have a fever of 37.5°C (99.5°F) or higher will be refused entry.
•Please join TOKYO’S COVID_19 NOTIFICATION & SUPPORT SERVICE.
•Please try to stay at least 2 meters (7 feet) away from other visitors inside the museum.
•Please refrain from talking in exhibition rooms.
•Please refrain from any activities that form large groups (tours, photo sessions, gatherings etc.).
•Please do not stay in one place for photographing and sketching except taking photos with reconstructed buildings and exhibits.
•Please do not touch the exhibits, display cases, or devices that are not in use.

Our measures to prevent the spread of infection:
•Staff members conduct daily temperature checks and confirm that they are in good health.
•All staff members wear masks.
•Acrylic panels installed at counters.
•Disinfectant placed at the entrance to the museum.
•Thorough cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation inside the building.
•Please wait in line and enter the museum in order to keep enough distance from other visitors (please check the museum website and SNS accounts for information about congestion).
•Prohibition of entering and viewing the places in the reconstructed buildings where sufficient ventilation is not maintained.
•Restriction of entry to the exhibition room and viewing of the special exhibition “THE SENTO: history and the culture of the bathhouses in Tokyo” to lessen the risk of infection (please check our website and SNS accounts for information about admission restriction).
•Reinforcement of ventilation, and doors and windows of the Visitor Center and the Rest House to be opened. Please take measures against heat on your visit because the facilities will not be sufficiently air-conditioned.
•Installation of signs to remind visitors not to stay in one place.
•Prohibition of touching exhibits that can ordinarily be touched by hand.
•Suspension of use of hand dryers in restrooms.
•Coordination with the public health center if visitors or staff members develop symptoms(visitors are recommended to take note of the date and time of their visit).
